Everything you need to know about- Milk Bath Photoshoots
I love a good Milk Bath.
They are lovely. They give off a stunning vibe and are great for so many reasons. But if you have never done one, I’m sure you have some questions about how it works.
So, let’s chat about it.
What is a milk bath anyway? Is there real milk in the water?
Short answer- Yes. There is milk in the water.
For me and how I do my personal milk baths, I use powdered milk. Just enough to make the water white. I might add a scent if you like as well. You know, a nice little relaxing thing while you’re being photographed.
Milk Baths are used for several different kinds of sessions. Maternity, Boudoir and just a general self love photoshoot.
Each session is different. They are themed specifically to whomever I’m photographing. So that means some are done with roses and rose pestles while some are are with flowers or fruits. They are designed to fit whatever your esthetic is.
I get a lot of questions when planning for one if you should have your hair and makeup done. I would say definitly yes when it comes to makeup but a soft maybe on hair.
Your hair will 100% get wet during your shoot. so I always say a light curl or something like that is perfect. Just don’t go all out on hair as you might be sad if you dunk it in water after you spent all that time on it.
What should you wear? That truely depends on the vibes you’re going for. No matter the type of session there are some kinds of outfits that go great with a milk bath. Long lacy dresses are always a win. So are things that contrast with the water color. OR nothing at all. Just think of the vibes you’re going for when it comes to your own shoot.
A couple big things to think about day of is making sure that you bring two different things with you. 1 of those being a towel. Some studios and photographers might forget to leave a towel out for you to dry off with when you get out. Leaving you a little soggy.
The next thing you want to remember is something to change into when you’re all done. Some people like to arrive photoshoot ready, already wearing their outfits. And a good portion of the time, that outfit goes into the water with you. If you forget to bring a change of clothes, it might be a rather uncomfortable ride back home.
Your shoot itself should be a fun and light time making you feel super lovely! If you have questions on a milk bath or would like to book one, just send me a message! :)
